Rarely Seen Definitions

To fade -
how should I define
a word that has little
relevance, as you
never leave me,
although you
are so
distant
from
me.

But,
to remember -
something I can always
refer to, my memory of you
smiling early morning with tousled
hair, which is always in a state of distress,
makes me smirk more than any amount of mask
you seek to cover your faults with for "friends" that have no flaws.

Yet,
to love-
a rose without
water will not always blossom,
just like you will not smile
without a little tender
affection.
